Note:Modern county of Shropshire contains 859,516 acres, but in 1086 at time of Domesday, it included parts of Staffordshire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Wales, as well as most of modern Shropshire.
Whittington is only a few miles from Shrewsbury, and parts of Wales, which included areas such as co. Denbigh, were said to have crossed over or assimilated into Wales and/or been considered part of Shropshire at different times.
