A friend of mine virtusally beat into me the notion that the probability of connection between all of the Eatons and Eytons in the region of Northwest, is somewhere between 90% and 100%.

Having looked at very old pedigrees (I wish that every word was transcribable), I can say that the differences in spellings is nearly meaningless and no divisor at all. I can also say, with nearly absolute assurance (I suppose that aditional facts could prove me wrong in some *small* part) that all the Eaton/Eyton places surrounding The Wrekin (mountain) -- from Weald Moors to Constantine to on-tern, are as related through blood as they are the composition of the earth they share. Leaton north of Eyton was occupied by a branch of the same family, and so forth. Some of the evidence is "oral," most of it is found in the pedigrees. It will, though, take me months, I think, to mine the information out of these nearly unreadable microfilm copies, a major disappointment I meant to share with Michael Warner in my post to him tonight.

I am convinved of the consanguioty of these people and places. A lot of work will only strengthen that argument, I believe. It will take a pile of facts, which I don't believe exist, to prove this assertion wrong, I think.

I don't mind being wrong. So, if anyone has facts to the contrary, I hope they come forward. I mean that.

in the meantime, and over time, I'll do my best to pull information out of those awful copies. It won't be complete (because I cannot read much of it, but it will be valuable, believe me.

More to come.

Rick
