Joe:
I guess that I still don't know what you are saying; perhaps I misunderstand.
From (what? Page, 25, probably the original, hand-written Morris manuscript, complete with arms, some of which I can read, some not) we have William de Eyton, direct descendant (in the 5th generation of Robert de Eyton (the original and still among the mostly missing -- grin) referred to as "William de Eyton of Eighton of Eyton and Alberbury Co: (County) Salop.
The connection of EOTWM to Alberbury, at leadst in this 19th century document, couldn't be plainer. We can contest it, we can disprove it with our modernday search techniques and resources, but this, attributed to chartularies (can't read which) is pretty clear.
This william, by the way, is shown (with a broken line, which Don tells me means that the historian was uncertain) to "daughter of Fulk Fitzwarine.
John Eyton, product of this union, married Alice sole daughter of Roger de Marsh (some of his progenitors were called Mersh and Mershe), who also happened to by the great-great-gresat-great-grandson of Robert de Eyton. Alice then was four times the great grandaughter of ZRobert as well.
Finally, And this may be helpful in going forward, this is the first reference of "official" quality (right or wrong) I have seen to the first Robert's children.
They are shown as first, Willian de mersh; second, Robert de Eyton; and, third, Mathew de Eyton, father of a Roger and a Robert. Interestingly, William de mersh, the first son, also had sons Roger and Robert.
In any event, back to the original point. Alberbury and Eyton definitely appear to be connected through this William, who married Fitzwarine. Unfortumately, the arms shown here on this page did not copy well and the footnote is extremely difficult to read, but I *can* read this: (a reference to Eyton or(gold), on the shiled... "Fitswarine followed by Erm (ermine, usually Pantulf) on a bend g. (red) escallop shellsor (gold).
I am sorry that I cannot read it all.
Finally, another footnote says of William that "Eyton in Pursell(?) pedi(somethin not pedigree) and Gough pedigree in Visitation, both of which begin with this William.
I *estimate* this William's time at about 1320-1330. I haven't cross-checked this pedigree with other material yet.
This was much harder than I wanted to work tonight (grin). Hope it helps.
