Don:
Also see me response to Joe. I will re-check Blakeway. As I am on the West Coast now, I can't do that, but will.
To clarify, though, I just don't think Rob't was born as early as 1118-1120, as has been said by so many (in pedigrees). I could be dead wrong, but -- hopefully -- double checking the other Blakeway volume and, for the x hundredth time, Fitzalan and Pantulf dates, maybe we can clarify this some further.
I'll post what ever I come up with, if anything.
Also, see my note about my wife's thoughts. She is, by far, the superior researcher and has accute instincts. She has no proof yet, but I trust her reasoning and will be as happy as thee if she comes up with anything.
The other important part of my message dealt with the connection to Theophilus. That, I thought, was very importnt because it adds tremendous strength to the arguments of people like Barbara F. and Alan Garner, who are quite positive that all these Eatons and Eytons from Shropshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire are kin. I already known that the Dedham, Massachusetts, Eatons came from Kent and, before that, from Shropshire. It seems certain that the Reading Eatons (and probably the Haverhill and Salisbury, Mass., family) share English.
We may just be a much bigger family than my forebearers, at least, thought was the case and, one at least, hired professional researchers with doctorates (and others) to help him.
Just think, Don, you and I might actually be cousins. It's enought to consider a name change, isn't it? :-)
