People searching Trowbridge information might look to the Connecticut State Library, Yale's Sterling Memorial Library and the New Haven Historical Society. The Trowbridge family dates back, as I recall, to the founding of the Colony c. 1636. There are still descendants in the area.
I am not sure of this comment, but my recollection of comments my dad made, they were merchant seamen (ships owners), They were certainly prosperous and the incredibly beautiful Trowbridge mansion reposes on Hillhouse Avenue in New Haven near the Yale president's residence.
