Don: Your eloquent statement confirms, through your study, what I have suspected as a result of just a year or so of researching; or should I say, attempting to research? However, the difference between your information and mine is that you have studied sources. while I have responded to instinct --not quite fact vs. fantasy, but close. What prompted me to reach my conclusions in large part is the almost total lack of documentation and vital statistical data for the people claimed in the Banquo, etc. pedigrees that abound. So, while I would rather you had all the answers, I am more than pleased that you have arrived at a point where you can at least debunk idle supposition. I, too, have found errors -- albeit relatively minor ones -- in Molyneux's work; or, rather, the portion of it that was provided to me in copy form (I have not read the whole book). I can tell you that the entire chapter on The Dedham Eatons was taken, almost verbatim, from articles published by my great-grandfather, Professor Daniel Cady Eaton, in the annuals of the Eaton Family Association. Daniel, a scientist, was a very careful man. I travelled to Europe and hired a number of researchers to get to the point where he could publish authoritatively. But, even he -- despite a hiuge investment of time and money -- would not and could not leap to some of the copnclusions that others have so easily reached. I can't wait to read more of both your findings and unfindings. We need what you are doing. Please don't stop. By the way, you have set us all back a bit. But, good for you. Sometimes you have to step back before moving forward... kind of like a quarterback dropping back to make a long pass to an end who, ultimately, will score a touchdown. here's to our future vistories. Thanks for dropping back. Rick
