Rev. War Benjamin Eaton
I just received some very old papers today and I though they would be of interest. The papers are an affidavit that Benjamin Eaton of Painted Post NY was filling out in order to receive a pension. He had his brother Johnathan Eaton of Urbana NY (born in 1768)as a witness
This is what I was able to glean from the script:
Benjamin Eaton was born on 12 July 1762 in Atkinson, Rockingham County NH.He enlisted as a drummer in 1777 and was with Capt Beug...(sp) Stories company in the 3rd battalion of the New Hampshire Line.He fought at the battle of Ticonderoga and was also stationed at West Point.
Helived in Atkinson until 1783 when he moved to another county in NH until 1788.From 1788 until 1813 he lived in Painted Post, 1813-1820 Bath NY, and 1820-1833(when this wa filled out) Painted Post.He received payment strting in 1835.
I don't know who he married, or when he died.Any help would be appreciated.I would like to join the Eaton Revival, so count me in.
