In Reply to: Eastwoods from Kiethley England by Phyllis (Haney) Eastwood of 656

I would quote from the Able Eastwood Family booklet: "Family tradation as stated by Mrs. Roxy (Eastwood) Cochran, grand-daughter of Abel Eastwood, has it that the first Eastwood was from Yorkshire and came on a ship from Wales to Canada where he settled at Elizabethtown, located in the St. lawrence river, four-six miles east of Brockville. he had a son, born at seah, who later moved to Vermont where he had a son, Abel Eastwood . For two generations this family was engaged in lumbering and rafting ton teh St. lawrence river into Montreal and also, via lake Champlain into New York. Elizabethtown does not appear on recent maps."

I found a record of an Eastwood in New Jersey as early as the 1600s. I also found an ad that was looking for a Mr. Eastwood, dancing master and scheduled to be an endentured servant, who had jumped ship and his bond. No indication he was ever found.

My Sarah Eastwood owned a ship with her sons. My gr.great Grandfather married into the Keebler family and later lived in Ohio. I have a sampler created by Caroline Eastwood Keebler at the age of 5 in the early 1800s, which I treasure. Nathaniel Eastwood disappeared off the face of the earth sometime after his marriage. Cannot locate anything futher about him. Have more records but not yet entered into the computer.
