I forgot to mention another naming pattern similarity: David Easton of New Haven, NY was Nathaniel's father (I see you have a James David). David was an Oswego County pioneer, and died in 1823.

I saw also that the 1860 census calls your David a "H physician." That was an abbreviation for homeopathic (or natural remedies) physician. What is curious about this is that David Jefferson Easton, another son of my Nathaniel P. Easton and brother of John R. Easton and Maria Easton Smith of Chemung County, 1860, was --you guessed it--a homeopathic physician!

As far as the possibility of your William H. Easton being
in Oneida County, there was an uncle in my Easton family by the name of Erastus Cross, a stonecutter in Utica whose wife was from Marcy, NY. If your William fits, then Erastus was his uncle, too.

The coincidences here are rather interesting. I don't yet know what it all signifies...
