I descend from the John EASTON (my ggg-grandfather) that Joseph PETERS hit with a chair and killed him on Christmas Day December 25, 1840 in Dearborn County, Indiana. I'm trying to find out 'how' Joseph Peters and John Easton were related ??? Whether they really were half-brothers --- or --- brother-in-laws ? I do not know John Easton's parents' names? Just that John Easton was born in Pennsylvania abt 1790 and arrived in Dearborn County, IN at least by 1813 where he lived there until he was killed Dec 1840. Do you know the name of Stephen Peters' WIFES ? Someone told me he had been married twice. > The 1st marriage to a MARY (maiden name unknown?) Could Mary's maiden name have been EASTON and she was the mother of John Easton BEFORE marrying Stephen Peters. Do you know Stephen Peters' birthday ? as John Easton was born about 1790 in PA. and Stephen Peters children were listed as the 1st one being born in 1796 in Ky? > And Stephen's 2nd marriage was to a widow named COX, right? I wonder if her maiden name could have been Easton? Does anyone have a marriage date for them? According to the censuses in Dearborn County, IN, the Eastons did have 2 daughters for which I have not found out their first names: 1 female born about 1815 and 1 female born about 1825 I'd appreciate any information on the 2 wifes of Stephen Peters. Where they married or where they were from? Did they spend any 'time' in Kentucky on their way from PA? If so, any idea of where they stopped in KY? Joseph and Alice Miller's first son Robert was born about 1796 in Ky, right? Does anyone know 'what county' he was born in Ky? John EASTON (born 1790) married a Mary Ann WALLACE and her birthplace was KY. Not sure where they married but it was around 1813 or so. I don't think John EASTON and Joseph PETERS were brother-laws? At least not by Joseph's wife as she was Alice (or Ailsey) Miller, right ? as her maiden name was defnitely Miller so she wasn't an Easton girl. I found the circuit court records of the trial last week. If you anyone would like details of the Indictment-Manslaughter court records, just let me know. I heard these stories last week over in Dearborn County that have been passed down : That John Easton was singing to Stephen Peters when Joseph Peters picked up the chair and hit him in the head with it. And I was told that Stephen Peters was blind from having sand rubbed in his eyes in a fight when he was young ? stories, stories. Thanks so much!
