On the Civil War Registration card for Newton Eastman it lists his birthday as Oct 21, 1835.
The document goes on to name his parents.
Daniel E Eastman
Leah Tilbury.
I couldn't locate Daniel in any of the local cemeteries, but there is a grave for Leah Tilbury Eastman 1819-1846. The website this is on, ties her name to Daniel E Eastman and also links her to the tombstone of a son, Jeremiah M Eastman.
Jeremiah was also in the Civil War and his document lists his parents as Daniel Eastman and Leah Eastman.
I believe Newton was married before he married Elvira. In the 1860 Tioga census, his wife is listed as "Alorah," which could be a botched spelling of Elvira, but I don't think so. The children are John, Kate and possibly Orvilla?
Newton's daughter Kate Rozell is mentioned in his 1917 obituary. And in both John and Kate's obituaries mention half-siblings.
