Hi Laura,
I was given my copy of "That Man Eastman" over 30 years ago as a gift from a wonderful man in California.I believe he was related to the author.I have occasionally seen copies of it in a library.Another great source which many big libraries do have is "History and Genealogy of the Eastman Family in America," by Guy Rix, approx. 1902.I purchased my copy through the New England Historical and Genealogical Society in Boston, MA, also about 30 years ago. There are also many booksellers of family histories that you might investigate on the Internet.I wish I could think of the names of a couple of well known ones, but they're escaping me at the moment.
Have you sent for the Eastman-Perkins marriage certificate? That might give James Eastman's parents. If you know the town where they married, you're better off writing to the town than to Concord, NH, because not every single bit of information was copied and sent to Concord. It was all done by hand back then, and some of the copies are incomplete.I know firsthand.
Good luck!
Ginnie
