White House Wedding of Mary Eastin
In his book POLK'S FOLLY, An American Family History (printed Feb. 2000 by Doubleday),William R. Polk states (among other things regarding the wedding):"Mary Eastin, the granddaughter of Rachel Jackson's brother, Colonel John Donelson, was the favorite niece of Andrew Jackson and as his hostess went with him to the White House. There, on April 10, 1832, after a whirlwind courtship, in which she was literally snatched away from her then fiance, she married Will's thirty-year-old son, Lucius [Polk] (p. 251).
It is my belief that Mary Eastin, spoken of here, was the daughter of William and Rachel Donelson Eastin.Does anyone know who her Eastin grandparents were?
Thanks.
