I found a letter in an old Wilcox family Bible from a Callie Easterwood who had married Willie Easterwood and was writing to her GrandMother from Hearne, Texas. The letter is dated November 11, 7191 (1791 would be the correct time frame). Also intermingled with the Wilcox's during this time frame are McDonalds, Kennedy's, Dever and Easley. The letter reads as follows: Nov. 11 7189 Dear GrandMother, I guess you will be very much surprised to get a letter from me but I had some of mine and husbands pictures taken and I thought I would send you one of them. They are not good by any means but I will send one anyway. GrandMother, he is just the best man that ever breathed, I am certainly happy with him, I never made a wish but he gratifies it. I have everything I want in this world. I have a nice house and it is furnished as nicely as can be. Come over and make me a visit. I will meet you at the train if you will let me know when you can come. I have was up to see Pa & Ma yesterday and they are are all well and hardy. How is all the folks, I would like it very much if they all would come and see me. How is counsin Ophelia getting along now has she any more children yet- give my love to her and and tell her to come over. We are both members of the Methodist Church and try to love Christians. I will close, hope this will find you all well. Write soon. Your affectionate GrandD. Callie Easterwood Notify Administrator about this message?
