The Allens came with a group of families from Monroe Co., Georgia and settled in this area of NE Lavaca and Western Colorado Counties near Oakland.
The Woolseys came first by way of Galveston in 1857 and they were followed by the Allens & Easons in 1858 by ship to Indianola, TX.
The Woolsey family history lists perhape a dozen families, for example, the Little, Austin, Montgomery and Myers families, They do not say which families came from Georgia and which were already in Texas.
I know that the Austin family was in Texas in the 1840's and moved to this area around 1857 or 1858. The Little and, I think, the Myers came after that date.
They formed a community called County Line and founded the County Line Methodist Church there.
There was also a community called Shimek where I am told there was a church and a school (probably was the County Line school) and a Post Office!
I drove up there last saturday, the only thing left are a couple of grave stones in the Shimek cemetery which has about 30 to 35 graves.
There is a very well preserved Eason cemetery near by. There was a marker on the fence just east of the intersection of CC 260 and LC 138 which marked the location of the County Line school.
