Need Proof that William Stratton of Bedford Co. VA was the SAME William (also b. VA abt. 1772)who moved to Maury Co. TN & lived there, at least until 1852. A BOOK OF STRATTONS Vol. II & records prove b. Chesterfield Co. VA, m. Mary HAYNES in Bedford Co., children: Elizabeth, Henry, Sarah, Wm. Jr. Believe the same William of Bedford Co. (ENCY. OF QUAKERS:VA) married wife(2)Polly HURT in 1808 (prob. Hurts of VA & Maury Co TN -Bird Hurt). Only 2 William on VA tax list & disappeared from lists about same time & appeared in Maury & Sumner counties in Tenn. about the same time. (Eliminated Wm. of Sumner Co. since a lot on his family.) That leaves Wm. of Maury Co. 1850 TN Census has him living with daughter Jane & husband Thos. Peay & is family to whom he deeded half his land. No cemetery record for any of these folks in Bedford, VA or Maury Co., TN. Wm., nor Thos. & Jane Peay, are on later censuses there or TX. (Their son W.T. & family living on prob. same land in 1900.) BELIEVE (need proof) that Wm. had at least one son by Polly HURT & was named James T. STRATTON, b. 1817 TN (prob. Maury Co.), a clerk, on 1850 with an older Mrs. HURT & prob. her son who was a merchant. James T. m. Permelia E. LEFTWICH who on 1850 same census was living with the Thos. & Elizabeth (Smith, prob. Permelia's Aunt & her mother's sister) HARDEMAN family. Permelia's father was Thos. LEFTWICH b. VA, m. Susannah "Susan" Smith, dau. of Samuel & Grizel, in Bedford Co., VA & moved, along with father Jabez to Madison Co. AL where Permelia was born. Thos. led a Co. to Texas to fight for TX independence from Mexico abt. 1838 & have read he died 1847 (need proof). Thos. & Susannah in LEFTWICH-TURNER FAMILIES OF VA & THEIR CONNECTIONS. James T. & Permelia moved to Weatherford, Parker Co., TX by 1880, where he's buried. Permelia's buried near Munday, TX. I descended through this couple down through son John Smith Stratton & wife Ann Holman (b. Hopkins Co. TX) & moved to Loving, Young Co., TX 1905, their son James Odus Stratton & wife Lillie Pearl Daily (my Grandparents). Help needed & eager to contact any relatives & share family lines. Thanks for taking the time to read this!
