Nancy it makes as much since now as it always has.Hahaha.
I have had the same concerns because one of them has to be correct, only I have not been able to prove one or the other.I know that most of the census ages are typically off by at least a year, often times far more.It is very convincing that the Carroll county John is living right there, but it is so close to Heard County that it leaves a certain amount of doubt.
The only item I ever saw that made me think it was the Heard County John, which I know is my GG-Grandfather, is the Civil war record. It definately states that the John Eason that was wounded at Seven Pines on May 31, 1862 also joined at Heard County.I have not seen the record for the John Eason of Carroll County, but it would be very coincidental that they both could have been wounded on the same day in the same battlefield.Do you have a copy of war record for the Carroll County John?
John in Heard County had just lost his wife, Nancy Borders, in June 1860 after having given birth to their second son.He left both of his kids with an aunt, Lucinda Pope, and joined the war effort. He was never heard of again.
We need to figure this one out for sure cause we all need to know which one is which.Help!!!
