Shadrack lived in Edgecombe County, NC. during the 1790 census and his family consisted of four sons and four daughters.
He owned five slaves. By 1800 he has moved to Johnson County and his family has increased to six sons and five daughters.
The 1810 and 1820 census places the family in Anson County, NC. and his family has decreased to 4 sons and 4 daughters.
In 1810 he purchased $400.00 worth of land from Hall Treadgill. In 1817 he purchased additional land from Jonathan
Taylor and in 1826 purchased additional land from Dempsey E. Prittenum. Prior to 1830 the family has moved to Hender-
son County, Tennessee where they remain until 1860 when he is last recorded as being 85 years of age. Decatur County has
been formed and his residence is across the line in Decatur rather than in Henderson County. An old letter owned by his des-
cendants states the family made the journey from Anson County to Henderson County (500 or 600 miles) with posessions
in an ox cart and family members on foot. They came in a caravan with the Johnsons, Kennedys, Lacys and Stegalls.
They settled near Scotts Hill, Tennessee.
