I too have reached a wall with Kearney (sometimes spelled Carney).
Recently I made contact with Joseph Kessler Eason who has done research into the Eason geneology. On The phone he told me Kearneys father was George Eason Jr., son of George Sr.
George Jr. married Ann Carney or Kearney.
He was supposed to have obtained the info from Bertie, Pitt and Edgecomb Counties records in N. C.
The above info has not been verified by me; but I'll be meeting with J.K. soon. I'll pass on what I find to you.
My connection is through Kearneys daughter Cuzzy.
