I came across this web site by chance while surfing. My details...
My father, Francis Richard Eassom, was born in Easton-on-the-Hill, Lincs, on August 16, 1915, passing away December 2, 1999. His father was Albert Eassom; his mother Frances, known as Fanny. Both passed away before I was born on April 9, 1956. His wife, Muriel Joan (nee Emerton), died in 1981 of cancer. He worked for (what became) British Rail for 47 years, retiring in 1980. He had lived in Rosemary Gardens, Peterborough, from 1958 to his death.
My father was not one for extended families but did say that he had cousins, presumably in the area. Wansford and Stibbington were often mentioned.
Interestingly, my father had a tendency to pronounce his name 'essum' at work, with my mother 'correcting' him to the 'eesum' pronunciation. I've always imagined that the pronunciation and spelling has changed over the centuries...
Anyway, I just thought I'd like to fill in another part of the Eassom family jigsaw puzzle! I live in California now, but would be interested to know if we're related. I have some scanned pictures which I'm more than happy to e-mail.
Dick (Richard John Eassom), Costa Mesa, California, USA
