EASLER/TOWER Connection

I have reason to believe that my GGGrandmother was born Elizabeth EAS(T)LER in the area of Moncton, New Brunswick sometime around 1810. My GGrandfather, James Robinson TOWER's (b.1840, NB; d. 1913, Washburn, Maine)death certificate lists his parents as John and Elizabeth TOWER of NB. The trouble is that the death certificate gives Elizabeth's last name as CROSSMAN. There is a record of a John TOWER and Elizabeth EASTLER having a son James R. whose age would have been the same as my James R. It makes me wonder if my James R. TOWER's Mother might have remarried someone named CROSSMAN after John TOWER's death. Might any of you folks shed any light on this puzzle?
