I have additional info on the Earp family that may be of some help to you. There were members of the Earp family living in Wilkes Co, NC, who moved to GA and TN and started using the name ARP. None of the members of Phillips Legion were included in the books Roster of Confederate Soldiers from GA, for some reason. There were two Earps who enlisted in Bartow Co, GA, in Phillips Legion. One was a G. P. who filed for a pension after the War, and one was an M. A. Both were in Co O. This is the same Co that my grgrgrandfather, Reuben Nowell, joined. But, I have never found out why he was in GA.
He was born in NC. The Wilkes Co Earps are descended from an Abednego Earp, Sr. His son Abednego, Jr, changed his name to Benjamin Arp. Several of Abednego, Sr's, sons married women whose maiden name was Gray. I tried to email you, but aol wouldn't open up your email address for some reason. I have some info on Abednego's family, but Ronney Earp has a lot on all of the Earp families. Abednego is not a direct line for my Earp family.
