How do you know the Wheeling, WVA information came from Wyatt? Couldn't Lake have obtained this information from other sources? I have seen NO sources that indicate Virginia Cooksey came from the Wheeling area. There are many sources indicating she came from Kentucky.There are several documents which indicate Nicholas Earp was born in North Carolina:

Lorenzo Dow Earp, Nicholas' older brother was born in Lincoln co, NC in 1809. This information comes from the L.D. Earp family bible.

1810 Federal census of Lincoln County, NC lists Walter Erps 1 male age to 0-10 and 1 male aged 16-26; 1 female age 16-26 (p.471, LDS film #0337913).

Will abstract #1309 of Mary Wingate date 27 January,1815, probated October 1815. Thomas Wingait my husband left me executor and administrator of those my children that was under me. To son Jesse Wingait. Daughter Pegga Parks Wingait. Executor none. Witnessed by Walter Earp and James Wingate (Lincoln County, North Carolina Will Abstracts 1779-1910 compiled by Miles S. Philbeck, Jr. and Grace Turner, #1309)

1850 Federal Census (taken 11 September) in Marion county, Iowa listed N.P. Earp age 37, cooper, born in North Carolina. Listed with Virgina A. age 29, born in Kentucky, with children Newton J. age 13, James C. age 7, Virgil W. age 6, Martha E. age 5, and Wyatt B. age 2 (Lake Prairie tnp, p. 290, family 150, LDS film #0442962).

1860 Federal Census (taken 2 July 1860) in Marion county, Iowa, Lake Prairie Township lists Nicholas P. Earp age 45 born North Carolina. Listed with Virginia age 38 born Kentucky, James C. 19, Virgil W. age 17, Wyatt S. age 12, Morgal S. age 9, Warren B. age 2.

Nicholas P. Earp first applied for a Federal invalid pension at Sterling, Rice co, Kansas on 9 Apr 1877. In this pension application Nicholas described himself as: born 6 Sep 1813, NC, cooper by trade, 5 ft 11 in tall, complexion fair, color of hair brown, eyes blue.
