ISAAC EARNEST - BEDFORD, PA - NEED NEWSPAPER INFO

I'm trying to verify a story that has been passed down through the family that would have occurred between 1870 and 1880. It involves the family of ISAAC EARNEST (1825-1903) and wife CATHERINE WONDER EARNEST (1825-1891) of Bedford Co, PA.

They had 13 children and it seems that some of these children burned down the family farmhouse on purpose possibly killing some family members. I found most of them together on the 1870 census and then I find the parents and 4 children living in the Bedford Co. Poorhouse on the 1880 census. Which would be an obvious place to go if your house burned down, I suppose.

Does anyone know where I would look for a newspaper article that may have been written about this or someone that could do a look up? Checked several websites for Bedford but haven't come up with anything.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.
