Dear Kat,
I am a newcomer to this list; found myself exploring late in the evening. I would be interested in becoming a part of this ongoing discussion, and would be glad to share any family information at my disposal. My paternal grandfather was Joseph Obid Earley, and he was married to Ivy Magnolia Harrington Earley (quite a southern name!). They lived in Lewiston, NC (in the NE corner of the state), and both passed on into glory c. 20-25 years ago. They had 5 children, whose names and info I will be glad to supply on request. There are several from that branch of our family who have gained notice along the way, including the current Atty Gen of VA, Mark Earley (JOE's grand-nephew). I heard recently that my grandfather, J. O. Earley, intro'd the variant spelling (it was, I believe, the only fortune he had to leave us, as he was a little town constable, but well known and loved nonetheless), but I know neither when nor why. I look forward to receiving your new newsletter. Grace and Peace. Jim Earley
