I recently bumped into a Bernard Early's site http://village.vossnet.co.uk/e/early
There he gives a brief history of the family name and it's origins. He also has the family Crest and Arms.

He states" Cathal, 18th Cristian King of Connaught, was an Ancestor of O'Donallain, son of Muredach. The Arms of Donellan of Connaught are recorded as 'Argent a fess between three stags heads cabossed gules' and a crest 'a greyhound sejant argent' -similar to those above. (those of the Clan O'maolmocheirge) Cathal's son was 22nd king; his brother Ardgael had sons Ceneth and Onchu- Onchu, ancestor of Maolmocheirge of Connaught.

Rocadh (86 in O'hart's 'Pedigrees') had a younger brother, Fiachrach Casan who was ancestor of the Clann Brassil of County Armagh and Dalgau (No.96) a brother O'maolmocheirighe (a quo) the O'maolmocheirigh Orgiall......

....The original name was substituted in the Gaelic submergence of the 17th & 18th Centuries by the name Early....The extra 'e' (Earley)is more common as an English surname........but until the early 20th century the spelling was "flexible' and both forms appeared in the same household.

I urge anyone interested in early "Early" history to visit Bernard's site, and explore. The are many other family names there as well. Most interesting of all however is the linked site with a section from Adam and Eve to 1580 AD in the Kinsella Clan's genealogy. To get there 1st get to the site, click on the "early family tree" button, at the next page click on the Early name under the shield, the next page you need to click on the Early name in the upper right hand corner(this will take you to a brief history page), there you will see the word "Tales" in blue in the middle of the page... it is a link to another page at the bottom of which is the final link "Sons of Mil" taking you to the Kinsella Clan's lineage page with the Adam and Eve Genealogy.
