Greetings!

I do have a few Jubal stories...my great grandfather (Joseph Emerson Early) was documented as Jubal's oldest son born in Rocky Mount VA to Jubal and Julia McNeely. My grandfather (Clifford Ward Early) was born in Somerset KY where Joseph settled in the late 1870's. Joseph's oldest son (my grandfather' oldest brother named Claude Hampton Early) was known to have said that he knew his grandparents were never married. My grandfather would not even talk of Jubal.

Our part of the Early family was mentioned in Osborne's biography on Jubal and we do believe we have this lineage well documented.
However, we keep hearing that Jubal may have had "several" familes...anybody have any word on this? We do know that Jubal never did sign a marriage license, and as a lawyer perhaps he had his reasons...or maybe is was just his famous stubborness.

Look forward to hearing from anyone on this. Thanks.
