Seeking descendents/researchers of Joel Early of Greene/Wilkes County Ga... why did he, on 28 Oct 1801 deed to Mathias Mock as a "gift of love and affection" 190 acres of land on Kettle Creek in Wilkes County Ga.? Mathias Mock Jr. had married recently to Frances Lea, illegitimate daughter of Nancy Lea and ??..... this is the same Joel Early I believe who was father of a governor of Ga and who would not let his own sons inherit land till they were 45 years old..why is he giving away a farm to a young man and his illegit. born wife?
