I did read those postings. It's probably going to remain a mystery to all of us as to the real and true spelling of the Earls name in our lines. Alot of my info is from the research I have done personaly thru my full subscriptions to and But most of my info is from a distant cousin who has researched the line for 6 or 7 years. She has gotten most of the spellings from old census and death records through the Morman church family centers. Back in the old days the spelling on professional records was often wrong because everything was written in hand, and sometimes the handwriting is so bad it cant be read, or the quality of the record is bad. Plus, many could not read or write back then and had to rely on someone else to spell things for them.
On I believe it was the 1790 census is where my cousin got the Earles spelling, where Frederick and all his siblings are listed. His father, Thomas also spelled it that way and HIS father apparantly spelled it Earl but all his kids were listed as Earles.
All of our birth/death/marriage dates match, but the spelling is a real mystery and always will be until they make a time machine so we can get proof.....
Did you see the files on my website? Hope they help. Let me know if you need more and I'll see what ive got.
