Photocopied from an old newspaper clipping scrapbook of my great grandmothers. I don't have originals and they aren't available to me, and I don't know from were they came, other than my family is from Lapeer County. Sorry!
Hope this is helpful to someone. This is an awesome obit, as it tells the story of her life. WOW!
Julia EARL, daughter of Ephraim and Malinda EARL was born in Pontiac, this state, September 4, 1844. She removed with her parents to Attica township when about sixteen years of age. She was married to Luther HUBBARD, January 21, 1868. Mr and Mrs Hubbard settled on the farm in Attica township which has since been their home. Together they built the house that for nearly half a hundred years has sheltered them through the storms and sunshine of life.
About fifteen years ago Mrs. Hubbard gave her heart to God, and her life in loving service to her Saviour, who had so wonderfully saved her. Her husband soon followed her example, and since that time their home has been a home of devotion and prayer, and loving christian service. Mrs Hubbard passed from this life to the greater and better life beyond Tuesday morning at eight oclock. She had been in poor health for some time, but able to be about and to perform her usual home duties up to the very moment when the voice of God called her home.
The life of sister hubbard was a life of devotion to her home and her friends. She loved God and his people with a deep passionate love, which prompted her to do all in her power for the cause of Christ and humanity. She will be missed in the home, the community and the church where she was constant and devoted worshiper. Her place cannot be filled here; we wait with sad hearts for the time when God will call us to join her and other loved ones who have gone before to their eternal home.
She leaves to mourn her loss one sister, Mrs Wilson, of St Johns; three brothers, Daniel Earl, of Attica township, Oliver of Pontiac, and Fred of Detroit; beside her husband who with bowed head and sad heart whispers, "the will of the Lord be done."
The funeral services will be held at the home Friday afternoon.
