Hi Marcy:
Thank you for your reply.I don't think that you Lucy is the one I am looking for butI believe that she may be related.
LUCYETTE EARL MC CABE was born 1837 (place unknown, and parents unknown). She married
WILLIAM NELSON SOULE and had two sons,
LESLIE SOULE and LEE SOULE (Leslie died at age 36 in 1901 and Lee at age 18, no year given on tombstone).
Althoiugh Lucyette and Nelson were a prominent family in Paducah, KY (he established a drug store there in 1860 or so) little information can be gleaned about them.I went to Paducah, McCracken County, KY last month and learned very little more than I already knew.Leslie worked as a clerk in his father's drug store (there were 37 drug stores in Paducah between 1860 and 1900)and the family lived on the southwest corner of Chestnur and Harrison Avenues.
All of teh family are buried in Oak Grove Cemetery there but most inscriptions only stated age at death (not date of death) and teh cemetery records are scant, and, sometimes inaccurate with family Bible entries.
Perhaps your Lucy and lucyette are named for a common ancestor.Do you know if Lucy appears in previous generations? If so, perhaps she was born Lucyette Earl and married a McCabe prior to her marriage to
Nelson Soule.Ther was also a Sarah McCabe buried in the family plot that no relatives have ever heard of before.Perhaps she was
Lucyette's first mother-in-law.
Thank you for your reply and if you find an earlier Lucy or any tie to Lucyette, please let me know.
Kindest regards,
Judy Hughes
