Hi Trish,
Do you have any dates?
I have a Jonas Earll who married an Experience Sprague abt. 1777 in Washington Co. NY; he was born abt. 1751-1754 in Onandaga Co., NY and died 1847.His son was Jonas Earll, Jr., who married Claria Thompson. She was born in Marcellus, Onandaga Co., NY
Then I have Daniel Earll m. Mehitable Watson. They had eleven children and eventually ended up in Skaneateles, where Daniel died. One of their children was Robert (b. 1763 in Halifax, Nova Scotia) m. Elizabeth Hodge.Robert was quite an over-achiever as you may gather from the info below.
Robert and Elizabeth Hodge Earll had a son Robert Earll, Jr. m. Phoebe Earll (his cousin).Robert Jr. was born 1783 and died 1861.
Since Daniel and Mehitable had 11 kids and one of them was Robert, it is probable that some of the other ten kids named at least one of their boys after him...especially since Robert was so successful.
In a word, yes...I definitely think there is a connection between your Earlls and the Skaneateles Earlls.Unfortunately, I don't have much on that line.I think both Daniel and Robert are DAR certified partiots, so that might be a good place to start.
Good luck,
Bruce.
Here's the skinny on Robert:
Robert Earll was a private in the 16th Regiment of the Albany Co. NY militia from 1779-1780 during the American Revolution. This company was raised for an expedition against Nova Scotia and in defense of Machias. He was a private, 1777, in Reuben Dyer's company, Colonel Foster's Massachusetts regiment.--DAR records
Robert eventually became a Brigadier General, Sheriff of Onandaga Co., NY, and a State Legislator.
DAR:
Robert Earll (1763-1834) served, 1777, as a private in Capt. Reuben Dyers' company, Colonel Foster's Massachusetts regiment. He was born in Halifax, N. S.
