DNA pays off in genealogy "brick walls"

We had a person not of the surname of Ames/Eames come to us and said back in the early 1800s, the family story goes that their were named Ames. So he took the Ames Society DNA test and he matched one of the Ames lines. Then we searched all the Ames males of that period and one was not advanced forward for he dissapeared. Using the info of the DNA tester back as far as he could go, there the same male ,location and age appeared. So the story in that family was correct.

We can now say yes, it does help if a DNA test is known. If you are a male Ames/Eames, take the test. The best one is the marker 37 . See the details on www.AmesSociety.org

A nice way to start the new year and find a needle in the haystack.
