The book to which you are referring is titled "Valiant Captive" by Erick Berry. I only copied the preface so I don't have the date and publisher. The book is a fictionalized account of the historical capture of young Margaret Eames (b 1666), dau of Thomas Eames (c1618-1680) of Framingham, MA, by the neighboring Indians on Feb 1, 1676, and her subsequent captivity and release in Canada.
