I just read William C Reed's site on Thomas Ely and Jane Smith Ely. I thought for a minute I had solved a riddle in my Alley line..but perhaps some of you may have run into the following.

Thomas Alley 1722-1780 md Jane Ealy (? on last name)
Montgomery Co Va.

Childreb Thomas, William, Samuel, Isaiah, DAvid , Isham and Joseph.

Montgomery County Court April 5, 1787 Order book 1 page 286
Satisfactory proof of being made to thie Court that Jane Alley is entitled to the pay of Thomas Alley her husband who died of his wounds at Bufords Defeat.

This is so similar to the information on William Reed's site..I'm hoping someone has come across this Jane Ealey or Ealy or however. Or if the last name is incorrect.

Thomas would have been my 6th Ggrandfather.no one I have heard of has a service record on him..Is this Jane incorrect and was she Thomas Ely's wife?
