My father was named Thomas Edward Eales, born: 10.10.1915 in Auckland, sub district Bishop Auckland,Co. Durham,England.By the time he married my mother,Nora Pearson, on04.05.1940,he lived at 43, The Fleet,Dormanstown,Cleveland, North Yorkshire. His father was Frank Eales, Locomotive Driver, of that same adress.I know that my father's family lived in Coundon, County Durham, (a coal mining town) before they moved to MNorth Yorkshire.
Apparently, many of the miners in the Durham area had moved from the Lead mining villages of the Yorkshire Dales in the late 1800s when the lead mines petered out.
I know that there are some Eales names in the North Yorkshire Dales Telephone Directory.
What about John Eales,Captain of the Wallabies?Any relation?
