Apr 13, 1871, Eakins, on the 11th inst. Christiana, wife of Samuel Eakins, Sr., in the 61st Year of her age, Funeral from his residence, 1024 Palmer Street, proceed to Palmer Cemetery. Source: Tombstone Inscriptions in Palmer Cemetery, Copied in 1953 & 1954, by Mr. Charles Barker (et al)Page 271.

Christiann was the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Moser. Christiann was married to Samuel Eakins on January 8th 1832 at the First Presbyterian Church in Kensington. During the Civil War, Acting Master Samuel Eakins, United States Navy, was appointed as the commander of the U.S.S. ALLIGATOR, the Navy's first submarine. He is interred at the Raleigh National Cemetery in Wake County, North Carolina
