David & Mary MacIntire EAKIN---Bible
Posted by: Pat Hargus Sommerfield Date: March 18, 2002 at 06:10:19

I have just been given copies of the pages from the Bible belonging to David & Mary MacIntire Eakin
This shows who the children of David & Mary MacIntire Eakin are. (There are quite a few discrepancies on the genforum and WEBSITES, that show wrong information.)

Some show that David & Mary had a child Amanda Jane born 1838. Mary was 52 at that time, so it is highly unlikely.
On the 1850 Jasper Co, Ms census, it shows an Amanda Jane Shepperd age 12 (would have been born 1838) living with them.

I have been given copies of the Bible pages from an Eakin researcher. No one knows where the original Bible is. If anyone would like copies, email me and I will scan them and email to you, or send you copies. Anyone from David & Mary's line is welcome to copies.
Here is what it shows: (my notes in parenthesis)

(On cover) Absolution Bible
(Front Page) "Mary Macintire's Book"

"Printed in Edinburgh by Sir D. Hunter Blair and J. Bruce"

(Written on a back page---parts are missing):

Rebekah Eakin born 1813
William Eakin born Ireland April 5, 1814
David Eakin Feb. 1816
Martha Eakin May 1817
---illy Eakin (date not shown--destroyed)
Samuel D. Eakin born New York Oct. 19, 1820
Mary (Melissa?) Eakin Feb 15, 1823
John & David Eakin Mar 26, 1824
Robert Eakin born Miss Sept 10, 1826
Elias B. Eakin born 1829
Margaret Eakin born 1831

(last two names provided by other records)

Email me if there are any questions.
