I live in Cape Town South Africa and I am keen to trace my roots, so to speak. I was born in Namibia 21/12/1944, I am single but have one older brother Patrick and two younger brothers Eric and Brian. Because my father, William Henry Eagleton lost both his parents when he was 3 years old, he was also William Henry, within a week of each other, during the 1918 flu epidemic, he had very little information about his family as he and his two older sisters were raised by his mothers side of the family, who were Dutch. I estimate that my grandfather was born in about 1890 as he died when he was 27 and that was in 1918. His father was also William Henry, and he married a Miss Joubert, who I believe was French. I am not too sure if he came out to South Africa or was born here, butI wrote to the UK many years ago to see if I could trace the family, and I was told that there was a William Henry married to a Miss Leest in Norfolk. He was a cordwainer by trade. I don't know if this was indeed my family and if in fact they did come from that part of the UK. If there is someone that could guide me or maybe direct me to the correct person to speak to, it would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely Dennis Eagleton Notify Administrator about this message?
