Terry, "I feel your pain". I, too, am looking for a William Eagle in Ashland Co. My William was born abt. 1817 in Ohio. He married Elizabeth Ludwig 13 Oct 1839 in Ashland (then Wayne Co.). Their children are: Cornelia Ann (b. 1840), Newton Hager (1845-1932), Mary Alvira (B. 1847, m. Wm Scott 1867, d. 1928), Amanda M.(b.1850), Rebecca Jennie (b. 1853) and possibly George H. (b. 1858 and only appears on 1860 census). I have a considerable amount of information on the Eagles of Wayne/Ashland and am in communication with descendants. The problem is connecting MY William with the other Eagles in Ashland. I've even done research in Salt Lake City and have made little progress. There is an enormous amount of information on the Eagles in Ashland but, you're right, it's very difficult to sort it all out--especially without family groups listed on earlier census records! Contact me if you'd like to collaborate in untangling the mess!
Sue Ramsey
