Looking for fuller details on the family of Gideon Dowse Harris (g.s., 9 Jun 1846-3 Sep 1919) and wife Elizabeth E. Eager (g.s., 1849-4 Aug 1904), md. at Lowndes County, MS on 5 March 1867. They lived and died at Columbus (Lowndes County), MS per 1880 and 1900 censuses. Both are buried at Friendship Cemetery in Columbus. Gideon D. Harris left a recorded will per the index to Lowndes County Will Book #1.

Am hoping that by starting with this Harris family giving as much detail as I have been able to glean electronically that one or more Harris-Eager descendant can provide me with further details on Elizabeth Eager's father.

The 1900 census says Elizabeth had 5 children, all living in June 1900:

1. Laura Harris, b. c. 1871, married ?
2. Elizabeth Harris, b. 25 Nov 1874, d. 15 Oct 1935 (Friendship g.s.), md. William Edward Waring.
3. Dr. Gideon Dowse, Jr., b. 1877, d. 30 Aug 1904 (Friendship g.s.), married ?
4. George Hunt Harris, b. 14 Feb 1880, d. 15 Mar 1944 (Friendship g.s.), married ?
5. Edward S. Harris, b. Oct 1882.

Elizabeth (Eager) Harris was the apparent only child of Charles P. Eager and Laura Emily Wright who md. Lowndes County, MS on 13 Oct 1846. According to a "Mississippi Belle" article on the web, Charles Eager died within 4-years of marriage, but I cannot find the widow Laura and daughter Elizabeth in the census until 1880 when Laura was residing with her son-in-law Gideon Harris. At that time, she was the 56 year old widow Laura E. Eager, Principal of the Franklin Academy in Columbus.

According to the same 1880 and 1900 censuses, Elizabeth (Eager) Harris' father was born in South Carolina. His wife Laura Emily Wright was born at Lowndes County, MS on 7 Apr 1824, so presumably that is a starting point for husband Charles' relative age.

Further details would be greatly appreciated.
