Eager origin & spelling

Mostly Eager is Irish, but there is a reknown Askenazi Rabbical line Eiger some of whom in US spell it Eager.
IN Jefferson/Berklely CO WVA I have worked the John Eager there. Several people have held that the marriage transcriptions listing him as John Ager/agyr & a Robert Agre with variant spelling shows they are brothers. & it is true that JOhn is w/o doubt s/o of Rbt Eager of Rev war etc. BUT a look at actual tax records for county shows they lived on opposite sides & while John is in records as Eager/Ager/agar the Robert is as Agre/Ayre/Ayer/Ayers. the samesness arises fro misreading of "phonetic misspellings) Eager=AYger= agre vs Ayers=Ayer=ayre the latter y read as g.

anyone else working on this line?

Pronucuation: we can tell how the name was said by the local mispellings. IN WV AYgr & misspelled Ager & Agar. in central Mo EE-jer misspelled Edger & edgar, usually said as ee-ger & spelled that way as well.
