I am looking for information on Bridget Egan/Eagan, daughter of John Egan and Anna Bell - county unknown. She was born in Ireland in December early 1830s, came to Albany about 1850 and was a servant for Barnard B. L. Winne - 143 Third St., Philip Dunn - tavern owner on the corner of Eagle St. and Maiden Lane and Laura Van Rensselaer - 98 Columbia St. She married widower, Michael Dignum, on October 27, 1867 at St. Joseph’s Church. Witnesses were Bridget Kirboy and Henry O’Brien. She
was step mother to Emma, James, Thomas and Mary and mother to Elizabeth, Anna and Edward. Godparents to her children were Elizabeth Collins, James Welsh, John Cregan, Mary Kelly, Thomas McMahon and Anastasia Hogan. I have not been able to make a connection with any North Albany Eagan/Egans. Bridget and Michael lived on the Van Rensselaer Estate for several years, Third St., Orange St. and Quackenbush St. until Michael’s death in 1899. She then lived with her son Edward and his family on Ten Broeck Place and Brookside Ave. in Menands. She died November 8, 1916.
