Hi - if this is Dorothy A. we've chatted before and I won't provide the long recap. If this isn't, then I can tell you briefly: This is the son of John Eeds listed in the 1790 Orangeburg(h) South Carolina census. John's mother was German. There is much conjecture as to her name - my bet's on Mariah or Mary. I don't have her last name. I'm not convinced but there is another branch of the family that believe's it's Meigs. Regardless, she was part of the Swiss German migration to Orangeburgh as it was then known. The John H Eades you are referring to married Rebecca Smith on or about May 20, 1831. Rebecca, her brother Joseph, and John R. Cox traveled together from Madison County, Alabama, (most likely Hobbs Island area) to Tuscaloosa area. Cox married John's sister Eliza - they were my GGG grandparents. Some (I'm forgetting at least two - don't have my records with me at the moment) other siblings: Andrew Heatley married Elizabeth Ashford (there's a tie in between the Ashfords, the Chappell's, Cox & the Smiths) 12/25/32 James married Marinda Ray (the Eads and the Rays lived amongst each other in the 1830 census) 2/17/24 Eliza (my third great) married John Cox 5/5/27 Mariah married John Cameron 11/16/26 There's a Daniel Eeds and at least one more brother and I believe one more sister.
