Nancy ‘Nannie’Elizabeth McCOMAS (b. Dec 1866 KS) m. 28 May 1885 in Circleville, Jackson Co. KS John R. EADEN b. Jan 1859 MO. (He states both his parents both KY.)(Marriage record said John Eaden). There were two Eaden families living in Jackson co KS in 1900, both from Kentucky: Granville Eaden and James W. Eaden ages 66 and 61. Nancy and John Eaden are in the 1900 census for Logan Twp, Phillips Co KS where John Eaden lists his employment as ‘hotel keeper.’ By the 16 Apr 1910 census they have moved to Almena Twp, Norton Co KS still operating a hotel. Daughter Ruby Eaden has married in that census and she and her husband John Hayes are both working for her dad in the hotel, one as maid, one as porter. In the Jan 7 1920 census John R Eaden age 60 is farming and Nancy (McComas) Eaden is living separately at age 53 in the household of her married daughter Ruby (Eaden) Hayes in the same township, along with youngest child Frances M. Eaden now 18.

Ruby L. EADEN b.Nov 1885 KS m. 1909 James R. HAYES b. 1887 d. 1927. The young couple newly married are living at ages 24 and 23 with Ruby’s parents in the 1910 census for Almena Twp, Norton Co KS both working in her fathers hotel, one as maid the other as porter. They are in the 1920 census for Almena Twp, Norton Co KS where her husband James is working as a horse and mule buyer, but her mother and youngest sister have moved into her household and Ruby’s father is living separately on a farm. James R. Hayes is buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Almena, Norton Co KS.Their children:
Richard J. HAYES b.ca. 1913 KS
John W. HAYES b.ca. 1915 KS
Elizabeth HAYES b.ca. 1917 KS
EBardy? (couldn't read census) b. 1919 KS (son)
Roscoe C. EADEN b.Sept 1887 KS. Living in 1920 census Almena Twp, Norton Co KS age 32 working as a ‘general farm laborer’ in household of James Johnson. Still single.
Irma EADEN b. Mar 1895 KS. Living at home age 15 in 1910 census.
Frances M. EADEN b. ca. 1902 KS. Age 8 at home in 1910 census. Single age 18 living with her mother in the household of her married older sister Ruby (Eaden) Hayes in Almena Twp, Norton Co KS.
*Nancy 'Nannie' McComas was the daughter of Israel McComas b. 19 June 1839 Cabell Co VA and his 2nd wife Martha E. Johnson b. 12 Sept 1841 OH. They are buried in Circleville Cemetery, Jackson Co KS.
