This is a correction to my first message dated 8/4/99. Where I have mentioned Caroline Eaden read Enoch Eaden. Enoch died about 1905 aged 40 to 45 years. He is the father of a girl named Caroline who is interned in the same grave I mentioned in my previous message. While I cannot offer specific information in respect of your Robert Eaden certain things gives me good reason to beleive there may be connection. Enoch is the father of a Thomas Eaden born 1884. Enoch would have been born in the same era as the William Eaden you have mentioned. Thomas was my Grandfather and as a child I remember him making mention having a brother who emigrated to the USA. Thomas also mentioned that his family originated from Lichfield, Staffordshire, England and came to Yorkshire to find work in the coalfields. In the town of Hoyland near Barnsley there are a number of Eadens largely all of them are related. I notice in your text that you mention a girl by the name of Alice. It is interesting in so much as my Grandfather and uncles often referred to an aunt by the name of Alice. Your text makes me beleive that Alice is an old family name. Also you mention a William, once again the name William features in the Eaden Family as a relative to my grandfather. I cannot in any way fully substantiate these views but the coincedences are quite remarkable. As a matter of interest I have made casual enquiries into English place names. I have found that there are is a place in Staffordshire, England by the name of Eadingale. The meaning of this name is nook of land of the family or followers of a man called Eadin. This is an old English personal name. Eadingale is a small village about 4 miles away from the above mentioned Lichfield. I hope this information is useful to your search and hope to have a reply from you soon.Alfred G. Eaden
