Dear Geoff,
I am Michael Edds.I am 53 and was born in Rupert, Greenbrier County, West Virginia. My ancestor was Peter Eades who was born in England in 1777.He settled in Albemarle County, Virginia. He came to Monroe County, Virginia (now West Virginia)in 1803 and settled on a large farm.I have a list of all his descendants here in America. Some spell their name Eades, Eads and Edds. One of his sons was William who was a steamboat captain on the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers in the middle to late 1800's.He changed our name to Edds.We believe that Peter came from southern England but are not sure.We think his father's name may have been John, but are not sure.If you have any leads, all of us here in the USA would appreciate your help.Take care and God bless....Mike Edds
