JEAN-BAPTISTE5 ETHIER (Jean-Baptiste4, Joseph3, André2, Leonard1) was born the morning of 12 June 1767, and was baptized the same day in St. Henri-de-Mascouche Roman Catholic Church, L’Assomption parish – his sponsors were Michel Renaud and Marie _____. He died 17 March 1853, aged 86 years [sic], and was buried 19 March 1853 in the presence of Jean-Baptiste Duprat and François Renaud. Church records show his occupation as cultivateur. He married, first, as Jean-Baptiste Ethier fils, 15 January 1787 at Mascouche, MARIE-ANGELIQUE4 GUIBORD. The witnesses were Jean-Baptiste Ethier père (father of the groom), Paul Ethier (brother of the groom), Charles Renaux, Jacques [Rautte?], Augustin Guibord (father of the bride), François Guibord (brother of the bride), Louis Asselin, Jean-Baptiste Gurrier, and others. Marie-Angelique was born 14 September 1765, and was baptized the same day in St. Henri-de-Mascouche Church—her sponsors were Jacques Fortin and Marie-Angelique Boutin dite Dubord. She was the daughter of Augustin3 Guibord (Joseph2, Antoine1) and his wife, Anne Lauzon. There was one son from this marriage. He married, second, 3 February 1794 at Mascouche, MARIE-FRANÇOISE5 RENAUD. They were married in the presence of Jean-Baptiste Ethier (father of the groom), Jean-Baptiste Renaud (father of the bride), Charles Renaud (brother of the bride), Joseph Defoy, Jean-Baptiste Borbins, Michel Cochant, Joseph Renaud, Jean-Baptiste Renaud fils, and Pierre L’Eveille (friend). Marie-Françoise Renaud was born and baptized 11 June 1775 at Mascouche, the daughter of Jean-Baptiste4 Renaud (Charles-François3, Michel2, Mathurin1) and his wife, Marie-Françoise4 Mulouin (Jean-Baptiste3, Jacques2, Jean1) (her mother was deceased in 1794). She died 24 May 1857, aged 82 [sic], and was buried 26 May 1857 in the presence of François Martel and François Renaud. Child, baptized in St. Henri-de-Mascouche Roman Catholic Church, by first wife, Angelique Guibord: i. JEAN-BAPTISTE6 ETHIER, born 9 April 1788, baptized the same day—his sponsors were _____ Guibord and Rosalie Duprat. He married, first, 29 April 1805 at Mascouche, MARIE-JOSEPHTE CONTENT (both bride and groom minors), daughter of Etienne Content and his wife, Angelique Leclair. The witnesses were Jean-Baptiste Ethier (father of groom), Jean-Baptiste Ethier (grandfather of groom), Joseph Ethier, Abraham Ethier (uncles), Etienne Content (father of bride), Jean-Baptiste Hubou dit Deslongchamps (uncle of bride) and others. He married, second, 26 April 1812 at St. Rose L’Achigan, Montreal, ANNE HEREAU dite DESCHAMPS, daughter of François Hereau dit Deschamps and his wife, Madeleine Chaput. He married, third, 6 September 1836 at St.-Lin, L’Assomption, ROSE BEAUCHAMP, daughter of Pascal Beauchamp and his wife, Marguerite Morriseau, and widow of Charles Guilbeau. Children, baptized at Mascouche, by second wife, Marie-Françoise Renaud: 3. ii. JOSEPH ETHIER, born 8 November 1794; married MARIE-FRANÇOISE MIGNERON. iii. MARGUERITE ETHIER, born the afternoon of 25 March 1796, and baptized 26 March 1796—her sponsors were Jean-Baptiste Ethier and Rosalie Duprat (her grandparents). iv. MARIE-FRANÇOISE ETHIER, born in the afternoon of 17 April 1797, and baptized 18 April 1797—her sponsors were Jean-Baptiste Renaud and Marie-Catherine Ethier. She married 18 February 1833 at Mascouche LOUIS LAPOINTE dit DESAUTELS, widower of Angelique Caron. The witnesses were Jean-Baptiste Ethier (father of bride), Octave Ethier (brother of bride), Jean-Baptiste Lapointe, and Theophile Lapointe (children of Louis’ first marriage) (ibid., 8:117). v. PIERRE ETHIER, born the morning of 20 July 1798, and baptized the same day—his sponsors were Pierre Renaud and Marie Ethier. He died 3 August 1798, aged 15 days [sic], and was buried 4 August 1798 in the presence of Etienne Guibord and Charles Hubou dit Deslongchamps. vi. ANTOINE ETHIER, born 17 February 1800, baptized the same day; died 1 August 1800, aged five months [sic], and was buried 3 August 1800 in the presence of Etienne and Augustine Guibord. vii. MARGUERITE ETHIER, born 20 February 1801, and baptized 22 February 1801—her sponsors were Joseph Defoy and Marie-Madeleine Chalifour. She married 3 February 1833 at Mascouche ANTOINE MARSAN dit LAPIERRE, widower of Marguerite Beauchamp. Joseph Beauchamp was a witness. He was probably the Antoine baptized 17 September 1784 at St. Cuthbert, the son of Charles Marsan and his wife, Madeleine Charon dite Ducharme. viii. CHARLES ETHIER, born 31 December 1803, and baptized 1 January 1804—his sponsors were Joseph Ethier (uncle) and Marie-Rose Allard. He died 24 September 1804, aged nine months [sic], and was buried 26 September 1804 in the presence of Jean Guindon and Jean-Michel Beauchamp. ix. PAUL ETHIER, born say 1805. He was a cultivateur and major son when he married 11 February 1828 at Mascouche THEOTISTE CHAPUT, daughter of Michel Chaput and his wife, Angelique Archambault. x. MARIE-ANNE ETHIER, born 3 March 1807, and baptized the same day—her sponsors were Laurent Brouillet and Marianne Archambault. Strangely, another Marie-Anne with the same parents listed was born and baptized 6 June 1807— her sponsors were Joseph Beauchamp and Marie-Luce Beaudion. She married, first, 9 August 1830 at Mascouche (as Marie) JEAN-MARIE DANIEL forgeron, son of François Daniel and his wife, Marguerite Beauchamp. The witnesses were Isadore Daniel (brother of the groom), Jean-Baptiste Ethier (father of the bride) and Joseph Ethier (brother of the bride). She married, second, 7 February 1835 at Mascouche MICHEL DESJARDINS dit VERGER of the parish of St. Louis-de-Terrebonne, major widower of Victoire Gauvin. The witnesses were Michel Desjardins (father of the groom), Pierre Desjardins (brother of the groom), Jean Baptiste Ethier (father of the bride) and André Ethier (brother of the bride). xi. LOUIS ETHIER, born 22 August 1808, and baptized the same day—his sponsors were Joseph Renaud and Josephte Pelletier. He married 14 January 1833 at Mascouche ESTHER BEAUCHAMP, daughter of Joseph Beauchamp and his wife, Archange Bohemier. The witnesses were Jean-Baptiste Ethier (father of the groom), Octave Ethier (brother of the groom), Joseph Beauchamp (father of the bride), and Joseph Beauchamp (brother). xii. ANDRÉ ETHIER, born 13 November 1809, and baptized 19 November 1809—his sponsors were Michel Beauchamp and Euphrosine Ethier. He married 13 February 1832 at Mascouche MARIE-JUSTINE RENAUD, daughter of Jean-Baptiste Renaud and his wife, Marie Menier. The witnesses were Jean-Baptiste Ethier (father of the groom), Joseph Ethier (brother of the groom), Jean-Baptiste Renaud (father of the bride) and Octave Ethier (brother of the groom). xiii. FRANÇOIS-XAVIER ETHIER, born 7 February 1811, and baptized 8 February 1811—his sponsors were Augustin Gagne and Marie Beauchamp. He died 10 November 1811, aged nine months [sic], and was buried 11 November 1811 in the presence of Jean Guindon and Antoine Dagneau. xiv. PIERRE ETHIER, born 29 November 1812, and baptized 30 November 1812—his sponsors were Pierre Terrien and Marie-Louise Renaud. xv. NARCISSE ETHIER, born 24 April 1813, and baptized the same day—her sponsors were Jean-Baptiste Thouin and Angelique Leclerc. He died 14 July 1813 and was buried the same day in the presence of Jean Guindon and Antoine Degneire. xvi. CHARLES-OCTAVE ETHIER, born 1 June 1815, and baptized 2 June 1815—his sponsors were Archange Bohemier and Paschal Longre. He was a minor when he married 14 October 1834 at Mascouche LOUISE BEAUCHAMP, minor daughter of Etienne Beauchamp and his wife, Louise Soucis. The witnesses were Jean-Baptiste Ethier (father of groom), Joseph Ethier (brother of groom), Jeremie Beauchamp (uncle of bride) and Antoine Dumont (friend of groom). xvii. MARIE-ARCHANGE ETHIER, born 19 May 1817, and baptized 20 May 1817—his sponsors were Amable Thouin and Marie-Archange Boisvard.
