Adrienne::
My Great Grandmother was Junie Etta Dyson.
We do not know her maiden name. Although family has it that she was taken in by a family of the name of Cochran. She was full blooded Cherokee Indian. She married Walter Green Dyson. They married in West Jefferson, NC. Story has it that she was taken in by this family and he was a hired hand. But we have found by checking the "Chapman Rolls" that a daughter was born to the Cochrans making us now believe that the Cochrans were also Indian and changed thier name. I can only go back as far as my Great Grandmother in my ancestry, because there are no existing records(not that I have found as of yet)telling whom she was, whom her father was,or mother.They had 3 children: my Grandmother-Cora Mae Dyson and my 2 Grand Uncles:Ray Dyson and Claude Dyson. I don't know if this helps but they were definetely Indian and of the NC/Applachian tribe.
If any of this rings a bell with anyone else as to who my Grandmother was or anyone has any information to add to this ..PLEASE e-mail me! Thanks
