My great-grandfather is Pierce Dynes from Remsen, NY born- 1854-1914 wife was Margaret? they had three children Marguerite (1885-1896), Gertrude (1887-1923), Gardner Pierce (1893-1959, my grandfather). Could he be the Pierce of your letter? The ancestry is Scotch-Irish I think but I do not know when he immigrated.
